Hoboken's Cutest Show Off

The littlest Hobokenites got all dressed up and took to the streets for the 9th annual Baby Parade.

If the playground seemed a bit empty on Sunday, it was because the babies of Hoboken were too busy getting all dolled up for Hoboken Historical Museum's 9th annual Baby Parade. The glam tots—outfitted as princesses, cowboys and ladybugs to name a few—marched (in strollers) from Sinatra Park down to Pier A Park, where they peacocked for the judges and occasionally needed a diaper change. According to the Hoboken Historical Museum, parades for children began in the early 1900's as a way to dole out medical examinations to children of recent immigrants. Today the parade is merely a chance to have some fun and show off how cute your baby is. Mayor Dawn Zimmer was on hand to serve as one of the judges. Events like these, she said, "show the …

Hoboken Bars Prep For St. Pats

The local watering holes are gearing up for the crowds during Saturday's parade.

On Saturday, Hoboken will be awash in a sea of green beer and out-of-towners for the city's annual St. Patrick's Day parade, so it's probably wise to have a game plan together for the event. Of course you could go to any number of house parties or carry a flask of booze along the parade route, but you might also like keeping your arrest record clean. Best to stick to some of Hoboken's tried-and-true pubs and lounges, where you can be sure the beer won't run dry and the bouncers will keep obnoxious patrons at bay.
