Checks will be distributed soon, according to the committee.

The Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund is ready to distribute 493 checks to the applicants who qualified for help, according to Jackie Burton, one of the members of the committee that runs the fund. Individuals as well as businesses will receive money, said Burton. A little more than 500 people applied to the fund, Burton said in an email to Patch. She said she couldn't yet say how much money will be given out, but every applicant will receive the same amount, she said. The fund has raised more than $1 million, with the help of a large donation from the Haven Savings Bank as well as a fancy gala in Hoboken in early February. The exact amounts will be announced by the committee that runs the fund on Wednesday morning, said Burton. More information…

Rebuild Hoboken, the city's relief fund, is currently in the process of organizing its biggest event to date. After receiving a $250,000 donation last week from Haven Savings Bank, the committee is now in the midst of preparing a star studded event at the W Hotel on February 2. The Manzo Brothers — Hobokenites Albie and Chris — told The Dish that they will be present at the event, and may show up with more family members. Talk to Mike Russo. First, he is similarly situated, and given that he paid $1 for his property, the damage is likely substantially in excess of his purchase price. Second, he promised to give the money he would have spent on christmas cards to help statewide victims. Not sure how much cheaper a robo-call to folks like me outside of his district was then sending a card.   more ›

Since its inception, the fund has raised more than $600,000.
