Hundreds Join Guitar Bar All-Stars For World Record Performance Attempt [Photo Gallery]

A few hundred folks of all ages crowded into the Sinatra Park Amphitheater Thursday night to join Jim Mastro and his Guitar Bar All-Stars for a group playing of Bob Dylan's classic "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."

The gathering fell well short of the record for the largest collection of people playing a single song, but it hardly mattered. The diverse collection of acoustic guitar players — from kids barely larger than their own guitars to gray-bearded baby boomers who grew up listening to Dylan — brought an unmistakable sense of wonder to the community performance. It lasted over seven minutes.

"I don't want this to stop," Mastro said just before the six minute mark. "Let's go for the record for the longest song ever played."
