Surveillance Images of 'Persons of Interest' in Hoboken Homicide Released

Prosecutor's office releases surveillance images gleaned from Hoboken murder investigation.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office released surveillance video and multiple images of three "persons of interest'' in the murder of the homeless Hoboken man whose body was found last week on 3rd Street.

Ralph Erick Santiago, 46, a former Garden Street resident, was found last Tuesday evening with his head stuck between two spikes in the fence outside the Clock Tower Apartments on 3rd Street near Jefferson Street.

A police investigation found Santiago had been followed down 3rd Street by three individuals, one of whom struck him in the head from behind, causing him to collapse onto the fence. His body was found slumped on the fence just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Santiago had been a breakdancer and gymnast before suffering a traumatic brain injury in a similar attack 27 years ago, The Jersey Journal reported.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police detectives at (201) 915-1345.
