Sustainable Community Workshop Set for Tuesday

The Environmental Protection Agency's Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities program provides technical assistance to governments in hopes of increasing quality of life and economic and environmental sustainability.

Residents are invited to attend a workshop on community sustainability and resiliency Tuesday at the Rue School gym, located at 301 Garden Street in Southwest Hoboken, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Hoboken was one of two communities selected by Global Green USA to receive grant-funded technical assistance on sustainable planning neighborhood design courtesy of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program.

As part of the program, sustainability experts will conduct a two-day neighborhood assessment of Southwest Hoboken this week and develop comprehensive recommendations for infrastructure and policy changes. The program's goal is to identify opportunities and strategies that can aid Hoboken to increase its resiliency, better prepare for future severe weather events and adapt to climate change.
