Former CIA Director to Give 'Fracking' Talk at Stevens Institute

Former CIA director and Deputy Secretary of Defense John Deutch, who is now an institute professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will speak Wednesday at Stevens Institute about mitigating the adverse environmental impacts of hydraulic fracture or "fracking."

In a lecture titled, "The Challenges and Opportunities of Unconventional Oil and Gas Production," Deutch, who recently chaired a Department of Energy advisory board on hydraulic fracturing, will discuss the implementation of policies that would allow the energy sector to continue to grow while minimizing the environmental impact of hydraulic fracturing.

The lecture will be held in the DeBaun Auditorium, 500 Hudson St., at 4 p.m. Visit www.stevens.edu/lecture to register.
