Hoboken's Guide to the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Show

Information on parking, road closures, security checkpoints and more for Thursday's Fourth of July fireworks display over the Hudson River.

Hoboken is again expecting tens of thousands of guests to crowd into the city to view Macy’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks display over the Hudson River on Thursday.

This year’s 25-minute show has an official start time of 9 p.m., but usually gets started about 25 minutes later than that. Eight-time Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Usher picked the soundtrack for this year’s display.

Hoboken residents and visitors who drive to see the fireworks should expect extensive traffic and delays of at least four hours leaving town after the fireworks and at least two hours exiting municipal parking garages B (28 2nd Street) and D (215 Hudson Street), the assigned garages for Thursday’s show.

As a result, the city urges visitors to use one of a variety of available mass transit options, including the PATH, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NY Waterway ferries or New Jersey Transit train or bus. Additional information on traveling to and from Hoboken for the fireworks is available at the city’s website.

Law enforcement personnel will staff seven security checkpoints spanning the entire waterfront area and the stairway from the Babbio Center to the waterfront will be closed.
