Road Repaving, Steampunk Shakespeare, Community Meetings This Week in Hoboken

Hoboken drivers should expect detours and parking restrictions in some parts of town early in the week as road repaving work that had been scheduled for last week, but was delayed by weather conditions, has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday

Paving on 4th Street from Sinatra Drive to Hudson Street and 12th Street from Willow Avenue to Bloomfield Street has been rescheduled for Monday, while paving on Madison Street from 11th Street to 15th Street and Monroe Street from 3rd Street to 6th Street is set for Tuesday.

Residents interested in the local theatre scene can check out the Hudson Shakespeare Company's new Steampunk twist on "Macbeth." The free show, directed by Noelle Fair who has created a new movement and music-based adaptation of the popular play, runs Monday at 7 p.m. in Sinatra Park. Patrons are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the performance.

If you missed the first two but are interested in Carmelo Garcia's plan to revitalize the city's public housing stock, the third in a series of four public forums on Vision 20/20 is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at 221 Jackson St.

Also on Wednesday at 6 p.m., Mayor Dawn Zimmer will hold a launch party to kick off her re-election campaign at Chris and Albie Manzo-owned Little Town NJ on Sinatra Drive.

The Hoboken Fair Housing Association will hold a meeting Thursday night from 7 to 9 to discuss the effect that the ongoing property revaluation will have on small landlords and tenants. The meeting will be held at the Community Church of Hoboken, located at 606 Garden Street.

Also on Thursday, residents are invited to attend a community meeting at the Fox Hill Gardens community room, located 311 13th Street, to provide input on Phase 2 improvements to Legion Park. The meeting runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, the city's numerous outdoor summer series will continue this week with the following schedule:

Tuesday

The Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market is open every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Washington Street between Newark Street and Observer Highway.

Family Fun Nights continue with a 7 p.m. musical performance by Guitar Bar Jr. All Stars at Shipyard Park, located at 13th Street and McFeeley Drive.

Wednesday

All are invited to a free outdoor screening of "The Croods" at Pier A Park, located on 1st Street and Sinatra Drive as part of the city's weekly Movies Under the Stars series. Wednesday's show begins at 8 p.m. For the best seating, come early and bring a blanket or low-back chair. You may bring food, but alcohol consumption is not permitted and subject to a fine.

Thursday

Residents can grab fresh produce at the Hoboken Uptown Farmers’ Market, which is open every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the corner of 13th and Hudson streets.

Hoboken's Concerts in the Park series continues with a performance by Swingadelic at 7 p.m. at Sinatra Park Amphitheater, located on Sinatra Drive between 4th and 5th streets.
